England once ruled half of France
A vast kingdom of fertile lands
That covered Normandy and Maine
Yet they failed to maintain
This mighty territorial claim
Due to arrogance and conceit
And popular uprisings
They had tapped into a civil war
That spread between factions
And aided the Burgundy clan
As they massacred
The opposing Arminacs
Their war efforts were led
By incompetence and waste
Armies were garrisoned
The treasury Squandered
And yet victories were elusive
And futile
And as they marched
Across the land
Their occupation bred hate
And charismatic Joan
Led a holy crusade
To remove the foreigners
Their grip on lands slowly slipped
Until hardly a sliver remained
Under hegemonic control
The government was destabilized
England erupted in rosy civil war
France prospered independent and strong
Four hundred years ago the british learned
That occupation can not work
Against a determined foe
The sins of the parent has passed onto
Bosom of the son
Why do we keep reliving our mother’s woes?
